Steel ball processing and manufacturing technology

- Oct 10, 2020-

Steel balls in ball bearings are parts that bear load and are directly related to the dynamic performance of the bearing. The processing technology of the steel ball should first meet the requirements of the finished product standard, and the finished steel ball should have the highest possible life, low noise, low friction and high reliability in the bearing components. The processing technology of steel balls is relatively mature. At present, the principles and methods of domestic steel ball manufacturing processes are not much different. The process flow is generally: raw material inspection-steel ball blank manufacturing (cold and hot upsetting, cold and hot rail system)-light ball-heat output-hard grinding-enhanced output-preliminary research-fine research-cleaning-inspection-oiled packaging . Attributable to the blank manufacturing process, generally steel balls with a diameter of less than 1 inch (25.4mm) are cold forged, those with a diameter of more than 1 inch and less than 2 inches are hot forged or hot rail, and those with a diameter of more than 2 inches are turned or hot forged. .

In the process, when the obvious change is called, the photo ball process is used to replace the filing and soft grinding process. Although the current manufacturing process of steel balls is similar or similar to that of foreign advanced enterprises, advanced processes are gradually being applied, but the development of the entire industry is very uneven , Especially the forming process in production efficiency. There is a big gap between the molding error and the total product flow in the advanced level, and there is also a certain gap between the heat output and the fine grinding process.

The development trend of steel ball processing technology is mainly concentrated in the regulation technology, resin grinding wheel grinding technology, steel ball surface strengthening treatment, heat treatment automatic line processing and the application of new aqueous slurry. For steel balls larger than 1 inch, rail technology can be used. The rail-made steel ball has high dimensional accuracy (generally up to 0.05-0.09um) and no ring belt, high material utilization (20% higher than cold heading), production efficiency (up to 5 times that of hot heading), With high strength and good dimensional stability, rail billets have many advantages such as uniform metal streamline distribution and long life. However, the design and manufacture of rail rollers are more complicated, and the cost of rail roller materials is higher. The resin grinding wheel grinding process, the final processing of the steel ball by grinding instead of research, can stably improve the precision and surface quality of the steel ball, improve the dynamic performance of the steel ball, and play a key role in reducing the vibration value. The abnormal sound of the set has also been significantly improved. The steel balls processed by this technology are evenly ground, which overcomes the factors that affect the quality of the steel balls due to the uneven addition of abrasives with cast iron disks. At the same time, the pollution of the special resin grinding fluid is small, and the surface of the processed steel balls is easy to clean and produce The efficiency is greatly improved, and the cost is greatly reduced.
