Steel ball complex advanced production process

The steel ball is an indispensable thing in the bearing industry and the crushing industry. Common steel balls include bearing steel balls, stainless steel steel balls, carbon steel balls and alloy balls. Although the steel ball is small, its bearing and life are very important in the world of transmission. Its production process directly affects the quality of the product.


01 Raw material

The materials of each specification and each heat number are inspected. If it is wire, wire drawing (wire drawing) is also required, and the wire is drawn to the required wire diameter with a wire drawing machine.


02 Cold heading

Under normal temperature conditions, the raw materials are plastically deformed to form spherical billets.


03 Flashing

Remove the endless belt on the surface of the ball blank, and at the same time increase the roughness of the surface of the steel ball to make the ball blank initially spherical.


04 Heat treatment

The ball is put into the heat treatment furnace, carburized, quenched and tempered so that the ball has a certain carburized layer, hardness, toughness and crushing load. Some manufacturers use advanced mesh belt heat treatment lines to effectively control the process parameters of quenching and tempering time and temperature through various instruments to ensure the stability and controllability of product quality.


05 Peening

A processing method that causes the steel balls to collide with each other through a strengthening machine to make the surface of the steel ball plastically strengthened to improve the compressive stress and surface hardness of the steel ball surface.


06 Grinding

By fixing the iron plate and rotating the grinding wheel plate to grind under a certain pressure, the surface quality and shape of the steel ball are further improved.


07 Preliminary research (Lapping 1)

Two cast iron preliminary research discs are used, and then abrasives are added to achieve the surface quality with the precision specified by the process through a certain pressure and mechanical movement.


08 Appearance / Flaw Detection (Check / AVKIO)

100% manual selection. Add AVKIO flaw detector: photoelectric, eddy current, vibration three methods to select various types of defect balls, such as surface defects, shallow surface layer cracks, internal material defects.


09 Lapping 2

Two cast iron lapping plates are used, and abrasive is added. Under the effect of a little pressure and mechanical movement, some reserve is consumed to further improve the accuracy and surface quality of the steel ball.


10 Washing

Improve the cleaning quality and reduce the damage of the surface of the steel ball through the spiral cleaning machine and the lifting type turnover box, and continuously circulate the cleaning fluid to ensure the cleanliness of the steel ball.


11 Final check

Final inspection of each batch of steel balls in accordance with the requirements of the process, such as the roundness, hardness, metallography, stress, etc. of the steel balls, please refer to the inspection reference book for specifics.


12 Anti-rust, packaging (Oil, Pack)

Use anti-rust oil, spray anti-rust and package according to customer's packaging requirements.
